RCT AUDITIONS
for December 2008
From the RCT newsletter ENCORE:

RCT is preparing to bring the much-loved holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life to the stage in a new and emotionally moving way this Christmas. Auditions for It's a Wonderful Life: The Live Radio Play are on Saturday, October 18th in Escalon.

Think back to the day when the whole family gathered around the big wooden radio in the living room and listened to shows such as the Lux Radio Theater where the biggest stars of the day re-enacted popular Broadway shows and movies in front of a live studio audience.

This December RCT fans will be that studio audience, transported back to 1946 — the music, the fashions, the warmth and innocence — and enjoying the atmosphere and joys of a bygone era. This version of the ever-popular story, adapted by Joe Landry, is said to more dramatically powerful than the movie and a treat for all ages.

The script calls for a number of "actors" from WRCT Radio who will play all 50 different characters in the show, using multiple voices and performing the sound effects. Because the cast will be playing characters at a radio station performing the show, they will have scripts to read and won't have to memorize their lines.

All ages are encouraged to come out to auditions. Click on the auditions icon at the top of this article to go back to the RCT web page where you can find an auditions form. If you have any questions, please email us at auditions@rctheater.org or call Robin at 480-2601.

We have plans to have six shows at the Del Rio Theater in Riverbank over the first two weekends of December.
