At the yearly election of its officers, the Riverbank Community Theater Board of Directors has tabbed Robin Bjerke as its board president.
The co-founder of RCT follows Jonathon Cline in this position and she has hopes of building on the foundation Cline began laying over two years ago. It was Cline who spear-headed the efforts to guide RCT through the maze of tasks leading to incorporation and non-profit status. Bjerke hopes to continue the progress toward organizational goals that Cline began. "We have a good solid foundation and I think it is time to evaluate how well we are accomplishing the goals that we originally set," Bjerke said. When Bjerke convinced Cline to join RCT as an actor for 2005's The Sound of Music, she got more than just an actor helping fill a temporary role. A tireless worker, he took the reins to lead an equally talented board toward RCT's eventual 501(c)3 status. "We were really blessed because he was the perfect person to help us get that accomplished," Bjerke said. "There really wasn't someone who could step up and say, 'I'll get it done.'" Cline would say he had plenty of help and at the top of that list is Cheryl Westberg who holds the position of secretary after serving as treasurer since RCT's incorporation. Rounding out the board will be newcomer Wes Stiles who takes Westberg's spot as treasurer. Stephanie Hobbs is retiring from her service on the RCT board as she is busy leading a non-profit group that seeks to build a new track for Ripon High. Cline remains on the board as a trustee and will concentrate on finishing up the RCT handbook of standard operating procedures. Riverbank Community Theater is currently in preparation for a production of Arsenic and Old Lace to be held at Oakdale High the last weekend of March and the first weekend of April.
